“The Archive of Kings” is the located in a wing of the Outport palace, and contains the royal library and the official records of Outport. The High Scion of the Archive is responsible for maintaining, preserving, and producing copies of the records. The current High Scion has added an entire wing to the library’s already extensive holdings, having made it his personal goal to collect a divine version of every spell in the bardic spell list. He has also added many divine versions of wizard scrolls. The archive’s most important feature, a well of crystal blue water (“The Well of Kings”), is important in the annointing ceremony that has accompanied the coronation of Outport’s monarchs since the time of the Innocent Prince.
The High Scion of the temple of Siamorphe in Outport is named Lucius Tatafer. He is a male human Loremaster (base class Archivist). Description: Lucius is unusually tall, with high cheekbones, cream-colored wavy hair, and piercing dark grey eyes. His commanding voice is accented with the aristocratic affectations of Southport nobility, and his elocution is pedantic and sesquipedalian. Interests: During his tenure as High Scion, Lucius has added an entire wing to the temple’s already extensive library holdings. His particular interest is bardic spells. Lucius has made it his lifetime goal to collect divine versions of every spell in the bardic spell list. Lucius has personally devoted countless hours of service to the support of any emigrée from Southport who reaches the temple of Siamorphe. He has developed a loyal following among the Southport expatriate community in Outport. Family background: Lucius is the de jure ruler of Southport, as the eldest male of the noble house of Carmichael. Due to his family’s claim to the throne of Southport, Lucius has been commanded (by the government of Southport) to never set foot in its demesne, under pain of death. His ancestor Carlain the Fifth was deposed in 2489 MR for having sided with Tiamat in the Dragon War. The house of Carmichael has long since renounced any loyalty to Tiamat, and in recent centuries they have made three unsuccessful attempts to retake the Southport throne. Lucius is the third de jure ruler of Southport to hold the position of High Scion of Siamorphe in Outport, and his son (named Carlain Tatafer) has been groomed to succeed him in that office.
20 André Hambly, priestess of Siamorphe in Outport, is a human divine bard. While others at the Archive of Kings work to preserve and gather knowledge, her life’s work is to disseminate it. One of her greatest accomplishments is the body of historical plays she has penned, featuring monarchs and events from Outport’s past. They now number 23. She is more proud, however, of herShe children’s rhymes. She finds stories in the chronicles and archives that need to be remembered, either because they are no longer commonly told, or because of their civic value, and puts them into verse that can be easily recited.
18. Third priest of the Archive of Kings —
The Archive of Kings is the royal library, and as such contains collected works brought from all over M’Kal. Not everything hauled in by royal champions is of a good or meritorious nature. Sometimes they recover cursed artifacts and tomes containing heinous lore, often too powerful to destroy but certainly too dangerous to let loose. These items are brought for safekeeping and kept deep within vaults lined with Urdrukar steel to prevent scrying, never to be seen and sealed beneath the strongest wards and most talented guardians that the realm has produced. Who is responsible for preventing the true names of infernal and chaotic entities from escaping, and blasphemous works of necromancy from even becoming known? Blessed Abraham the Stone-Sealer, a cleric/church inquisitor PRC build dedicated primarily to Lendys, the dragon-god of harsh justice.
Blessed Abraham is a cold, hard-nosed, resolute Dwarf whose wisdom grew from a thin and meagre upbringing as a refugee thief. He turned to petty theft when he was very young, was pretty bad at it, and was hauled in front of the local magistrate one too many times. The judge was tired of seeing him and sentenced him to hanging. His life was saved at the gallows when it was purchased by a passing priest of Lendys. He learned quickly that he wasn’t saved out of mercy or compassion or goodness, but by the cold application of logic, ethics, and legal principles – the priest thought him rehabilitatable if a “properly strict hand” was applied. His life hadn’t been saved – his sentence had merely been commuted.
Raised on penance, combat, and plain bread and water, Blessed Abraham became a hard-nosed fanatic of his god and an implacable enemy towards the wicked and law-breakers. His dour willingness to get involved in cleaning out the darkest cults and ugliest of evil business earned him his reputation and knowledge to be able to hold the sealed vaults within the Archives of Kings, and he holds them well. He considers himself to be the prison warden of that which is kept in there, and he considers himself personally placed by Lendys within the Archives to make sure such knowledge never escapes.
Blessed Abraham is middle-aged scarred Dwarven man who speaks in cold, precise and final terms. He is always prepared to fight since he’s hyper-vigilant about the vaults for which he is responsible. He keeps his head shaved and his beard clipped short to best fit inside of his full-face helmet, and he’s always carrying at least two sets of enchanted manacles capable of catching a major extraplanar entity. His weapon of choice is actually an immense iron judge’s gavel.
