The Rolling Coal(Marthammor Duin), referencing Dwarven affinity to stones and mines, and Marthammor Duin’s nature as a deity of wanderers and explorers. As well as a play on how coal can become diamonds eventually, and how every journey can end in dissapointment or in wondrous beauty
Avol Cloudhammer is a half-dragon (blue) dwarf cleric of Marthammor Duin, and high volamptar of the temple of Marthammor Duin in Outport. Avol hails from the dwarven stronghold of Haelahold in Blue Roost. He loves his homeland, but in Haelahold the main temple was devoted to the worship of Haela Brightaxe, and he felt the need to be near a temple of his own deity. Avol sees his god as essential to Outport, being the gateway to M’Kal. Marthammor Duin watches over trade routes and and assists travelers in finding their way by marking paths. Avol employs a small army of cartographers and clerks at the temple, who make and copy maps of the roads of M’Kal, as well as ocean charts for navigation. These are available for a reasonable price so that even poor travelers might afford them, but prices vary by size, quality, and accuracy. Avol and his fellow volamptar offer healing and temporary shelter services for new arrivals on the continent. They operate three coastal guard ships that patrol the waters near Outport, working to keep the trade routes to and from the mainland free of pirates and open for merchants. Avol also works behind the scenes to increase the influence of the dwarven population in Outport politics, and has cultivated close relationships with the major political powers of the region. Avol Cloudhammer has a wymling blue dragon cohort named Sundersky, who can often be seen basking atop the temple of Marthammor Duin, except on stormy days, when the young dragon becomes especially active.
Second Priest(ess): 19 Volamptar Taelar Bruin brings a kindly touch to The Rolling Coal, reminding all the other priests that as the good protector of travelers, Marthammor Duin is responsible for seeing many women and children safely to their destinations, not just merchants and traders. She is a cleric with the Good and Protection domains.
Third Priest(ess): 20 Kimli is a cleric with the Dwarf and Protection domains. She loves to watch the High Volamptar’s wyrmling, Sundersky, and recently discovered the source of the random metal dumps that get left in the temple of Marthammor Duin’s treasury. She isn’t yet sure what to do about it.
